INVASION SET TO CONTINUE AT BEAUMONT PARK

The Long Eaton Invaders will be returning for more second half action at Leicester's Beaumont Park circuit in 2012.

The Derbyshire club, left homeless after the sad demise of the Station Road Stadium back in 1997, were resurrected last season and went on to be crowned Midland Development League Champions back in October. Project Director of the Long Eaton club is delighted with the move which secures the immediate future for the 'Skills Coaches' Invaders.

“I am delighted that Long Eaton will continue to race their 'home' fixtures at Leicester Speedway next season and I am particularly grateful to David Hemsley for allowing us to continue in our current format. Leicester Speedway have been very supportive of our attempts to keep the name of the Invaders alive since I first approached them with the idea in 2010. Beaumont Park Stadium has certainly started to feel like home for us and it is a real privilege to be part of such a fantastic facility. Naturally, our ambition is to secure a similar facility back in Erewash in the near future and we are working hard behind the scenes to ensure that we explore avenues to make this a reality. However, in the meantime, we could not wish for better hosts” explained Higgs.

“We were thrilled with the level of support we received last season and the crowd levels that stayed behind to watch Long Eaton in action were fantastic. It was a real mix of former Invaders supporters and Leicester fans who also really got behind us. Securing Grand Final victory in front of such a large crowd was a real coup for us”.

Long Eaton will continue to compete in the Midland Development League which has undergone an expansion of teams for 2012 and home fixtures will follow selected Premier League fixtures involving the Leicester Lions.

Leicester Lions Promoter David Hemsley said: “The partnership with Long Eaton worked well and the venture gave fans added value with additional races most weeks at no extra cost at the turnstiles. We like to think that we are helping to raise the profile of Long Eaton and hopefully in the not too distant future the Invaders will be operating in a stadium that they can call their very own”.
